Assistance for Severe Weather and Flooding that occurred in December 2023 and January 2024 Residents of Kent, Providence, and Washington counties, who were affected by severe storms and flooding that occurred between December 17-19, 2023, and between January 9-13, 2024, can apply for federal assistance. Homeowners and renters who received property loss or damages by either disaster in those counties have until May 20, 2024, to apply. When applying for assistance, you must describe what damage(s) happened on which date to ensure you’re applying under the correct disaster.FEMA Assistance - There are several ways for homeowners and renters to apply.1. Use exit 14-B to merge onto RI-37 W towards RI-2/Cranston. Once on RI-37, use exit 2A and merge onto New London Avenue/RI-2 towards Oaklawn. You will pass the Command Readiness Center on your right and make a right onto Garden Hills Parkway. Then turn right into the parking lot and drive past the Schofield Armory building and park in an available space. Directions From the South: Take I-95 North. Take exit 14-15 to merge onto RI-37 W toward Cranston/RI-2. Then take exit 2A to merge onto New London Ave/RI-2 toward Oaklawn.
