
Rhode Island Emergency Management is pleased to announce the creation of the Rhode Island State Incident Management Team (Type 3 All-Hazards). Over the past few months RIEMA in conjunction with the RI AHIMT Working Group have laid out a vision and a mission of the RI State AHIMT.
State of Rhode Island Type III All Hazards Incident Management Team (AHIMT) Mission and Vision Statements
Mission: The State of Rhode Island All Hazards Incident Management Team (AHIMT) is composed of public safety professionals who shall provide support and assistance to augment ongoing operations through the provision of infrastructure support or, when requested, to transition to an incident management function to include all components/functions of Command and General staff. The RI AHIMT shall also be capable of providing Emergency Operations Center support, as requested.
These goals will be achieved through training, exercises, and deployments in order to provide efficient and effective incident management support for state, local, and regional authorities.
Vision: The members of the AHIMT will provide the technical incident management skills in support of state, local, or regional incidents in order to achieve the goals of the National Response Framework and to reduce the impact of natural and manmade disasters on the people of Rhode Island, and to provide these services, as requested, to protect the homeland of the United States
Purpose: The function of a Type 3 all-hazards team is to assist jurisdictions confronted with an incident beyond its capability in either scope or duration. The team brings:
The AHIMT is capable of operating in a variety of disasters including; fire, earthquake, floods, hazardous materials incidents, transportation accidents, WMD incidents, search and rescue, and weather related incidents. The AHIMT can also be used for large planned community activities and events.
Team members will complete a training course tentatively scheduled for October 2010.
