Rhode Island has created a unique coalition of agencies working together to come to common solutions from the threats posed to Rhode Island coastal communities from the hazardous impacts of climate change and flooding. This group has worked together to offer various trainings, such as workshops on Coastal Construction and Retrofitting Flood-prone Structures, to engineers, architects, building officials, and others throughout the state.
RI FACCT is composed of the following agencies: Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency, Rhode Island Building Code Commission, Coastal Resources Management Council, Rhode Island Sea Grant, and the University of Rhode Island Coastal Resources Center.
FACCT has recently put out it's first document, RI FACCT Sheet #1, Rebuilding After a Storm, Permitting Procedures for Repair and Rebuilding after a Storm: Coastal & Residential Structures. Copies of this document will be available at your local Building Officials office.
FACCT will continue to work to provide useful trainings and informational bulletins and handouts to help ensure the resilience of Rhode Island coastal communities.
