JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the State Emergency Management Agency today are recognizing those organizations which donated space so that people impacted by the mid-March storms and flooding could receive one-on-one assistance in the FEMA/state Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs).

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is working closely with states impacted from the recent severe storms and tornados as they assess damages.  DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff has spoken with the governors of Oklahoma and Missouri, and both he and FEMA Administrator David Paulison are expected to travel to impacted areas on Tuesday, May 13. State and local resources currently are addressing the most immediate needs as federal resources support their efforts.

Augusta, Maine - Residents of Aroostook County who experienced flood damage need to register with FEMA to receive federal assistance, even if they have already called 211 or contacted the Red Cross. Those affected can apply at www.fema.gov or by calling toll-free 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week until further notice. Those with speech or hearing impairment may call TTY 1-800-462-7585.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- TheFederal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announce the opening of a Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (MDRC) in Washington County. The MDRC will open Tuesday, May 13, at 9 a.m. and will serve those affected by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred March 18 through April 28.
